Strength Self-adhered underlayments are exposed to significant roof loading traffic during the course of installation. The facer of a self-adhered underlayment should be ideally designed to provide:

1. Skid-resistant surface for installer safety.
2. High strength to resist damage to the underlying self-adhered membrane layer.
3. No damage to the primary roofing material (eg. granules can score metal roofing)
4. Cool surface for installer comfort and high reflectivity for cool roof.
5. UV resistance for extended roof exposure.

Most non-granular self-adhered underlayments possess blown, cast or extruded PE or PP film based facers. These facers are fundamentally very low tensile and tear strength, possess high elongation, and are easily damaged during roof installation.

PALISADE™SA-HT shares the same high strength coated woven facer as PALISADE™ synthetic underlayment, and results in a self-adhered underlayment with exceptionally strong resistance to damage, which can compromise the integrity of the waterproofing membrane.
